Version 9.3 Release Notes

The following lists the changes to SIMetrix and SIMetrix/SIMPLIS for the Version 9.3 release.

User Interface

• Copy/Paste graph curves improved. Now copies label and colour and line style properties.
• UserId parameter for .GRAPH statement can be used to identify grids and graphs in subsequent Curve command with /griduserid or /graphuserid switch. Also new GetGraphObjectsWithProperty script function can be used to search for .GRAPH-generated curves
• Whitespace added to REF property in GUI editors stripped out
• Warning given on simulation run if single pin current probes not connected to a device pin
• New TEMPLATESCRIPT_TEXT property. Overrides TEMPLATESCRIPT and holds full text of script
• SIMPLIS-compatible Mutual inductor schematic device defined by mutual inductance instead of coupling factor
• Drag and drop hierachical component changes:
  • Uses relative path by default. (Previously full path)
  • Uses full path if control key held down. If a symbolic path is available, it will be converted to that path

SIMetrix Simulator

• Digital simulator improvements
  • Improvements to analog interface. Supply voltage configurable at device level
  • Digital plots reflect analog voltage and transition times
  • New generic logic gate device with optional inverted inputs and complimentary output
  • New generic flip-flop (D,JK,SR and T) with comprehensive timing specs
  • New arithmetic/logic device, performs addition, subtraction multiplication, comparison and barrel shifting
  • New multiplexer device
  • New demultiplexer device
  • New up/down counter with parallel load
  • Schematic interface to all the above devices
  • Schematic interface to digital source device
  • Digital constant device for schematic. Based on digital source
• Support for IBIS models. Most features in common usage are supported. Includes schematic interface
• Unused LTspice parameters for diode and BJT. Model parameters used for device selection in LTspice such as MFG and DISS are now allowed. The parameters are non-functional but permitted
• Improvements to TABLE function for arbitrary sources
  • Support for multidimension tables. Not a new feature as this was possible in earlier versions, but code has been developed to enhance performance
  • Improvement to convergence for TABLE devices used in manufacturers models
• Added number of cycles parameter to SINE and PULSE sources. Also support in GUI
• MI parameter added to mutual inductor. Defines mutual inductance instead of coupling factor
• Hspice .LIB Redirect compatibility: if an Hspice-style .LIB file contains a single non-commented line that points to a file, the library read-in is redirected to that file

Verilog-A

• New proprietary function $sx_data_control, provides ability to start data output. Use in conjunction with option setting ".OPTIONS useDataControl" to control output data according to circuit activity
