Overview

The SIMetrix Self Training course allows you to teach yourself how to use SIMetrix. The course currently available is suitable for users of SIMetrix AD Plus who are using SIMetrix for general analog design on Windows systems. It is divided up into sections that cover the following topics:

• Model Installation
• Using Built-in Parts
• Symbol Editor
• Analysis Modes
• Waveform Viewer and Data Analysis
• Fourier Analysis
• Multi-step Analysis
• Monte Carlo Analysis
• Hierarchical Schematics
• Introduction to Scripts

System Requirements

• To use the training material you must have SIMetrix 5.6 installed on your machine. A full production version is required; the course is not suitable for the free demo version
• Adobe Acrobat reader version 6 or later
• Windows 2000 or later

Downloading and Installation

1. You need a username and password to access the Self Training course. This is the same username and password used for the download of the SIMetrix installation files. Click here for details on how to obtain the username and password
2. Download SIMetrix Self Training Course
3. The downloaded file is a .msi install program. Run this by double clicking. This will install a PDF file that is the course document and a number of support files which will be installed to My Documents\SIMetrix\Training

Running Course

1. Start course from program icon in Start Menu Launch SIMetrix Training.pdf
2. Start SIMetrix 5.6
3. Type at the SIMetrix command line:
   
   setup_training
   
   This will reset the SIMetrix configuration so that its option and preference settings settings are consistent with the course material.
4. You are now ready to start the training course. Note that when the course asks you to open a file such as a schematic, that file will be located at the following path:
   
   My Documents\SIMetrix\Training\Section-section-number
   
   where section-number is the top level section you are working from
